About the Dual Immersion Program
Dual Immersion is a challenging and rigorous academic program that begins in TK/Kindergarten and continues through the fifth grade. Spanish is the target language of instruction. Students learn Spanish in TK-2 grades and master the Spanish skills to add on the English language skills at third grade and beyond.
Program Goals
- High levels of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in two languages
- High academic performance in all content areas
- A deep understanding and appreciation of cultures
- Skills in cross cultural communication and a sense of global citizenship
- The ability to study and communicate across the curriculum in two languages

___ YES, I am aware of, and understand, the long-term commitment to be able to see the full benefits of the program.
___ YES, I am aware my child will be taught to read and write in SPANISH FIRST and FORMAL English reading and writing will be ADDED in the THIRD grade. I understand that I can continue to read to my child at home in English.
___ YES, I understand that attendance is VERY IMPORTANT. If my child were to have EXCESSIVE ABSENCES, he/she may be exited out of the program.
___ I am aware the Dual Immersion is only offered at Railroad Canyon Elementary. Elsinore Middle School does offer a biliteracy track, however it is not a Dual Immersion Program.
